No Tnx
half-people sit close
half-friends, half-lovers
when the lights are on
smiling, nodding
feeding on safe opinions
like soup from a can
they drink with you
as long as nobody’s looking
or nothing is burning
they call it support
it’s not
it’s warmth
but only yours
only the kind that costs them nothing
just a shrug, a glance
a clean hand
but when the time comes to stand
oh boy!
air, bathroom, basement, anywhere
not here
and when someone takes the hit
they’ll say
i was always here
as if it matters
as if words mean anything
the rest
melt into walls
ghosts
pretending to care
three years ago
in theory
when it mattered
they were busy
protecting comfort
image
wallet
clean hands
these half-people
half-friends
half-lovers
never touch the fire
never get burned
no scars
no smoke
no love
no risk
no life
